Every morning at CGC, starting at around 6 a.m., the men of the church are meeting to pray at our Hudson building. We are seeing the fruits of this in our service and are thankful for men who are willing to sacrifice and come and pray.

As a result, the women in the church are following this example and have recently began praying at 9 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings.

We invite you to join us as we pray for our families, our church, and our city.

Today was our first service at our Hudson building. While it is far from finished, it gives us the needed room (and air conditioning!) that we need. We are so excited to finally be in the building, and we can't wait to see what God will do in this new building.

Sunday morning--June 26--will be our first service in the new building! However, if you have children in the sixth grade and under, you need to drop them off at the fellowship hall at Romero's. Sunday school staff will be there starting at 8:45 a.m. for choir members. Please remember to pick your children up promptly after service!

Secret sisters

Starting in July, the ladies at CGC are participating in a new round of Secret Sisters. On Tuesday, the ladies had a lovely dinner at the annex, with much food and laughter, and everyone drew a secret sister. For the next six months, they will encourage and pray for that sister in secret and bring little gifts for her at the annex. After the revealing, each sister will join with the one who drew her name and the one whose name she drew and pray with them for the next six months.

This past Saturday, Bishop Elder married another young couple in our church.

Colorado Campmeeting

This week is Colorado District Campmeeting and our choir was privileged to sing at the Thursday night service. We enjoyed singing for Jesus as well as listening to Bro. Wayne Huntley preach "All the Time at Harvest Time."

New York, New York!

On June 9, roughly 52 members of CGC piled on a plane from DIA to JFK for their first metro missions trip to New York. After a couple of hours of sleep on the plane (or not!), we stumbled out, bleary-eyed, to greet the New York City.

We met up with another youth group from Alabama, and, for the next four days, startled countless New Yorkers as we took New York by a storm of 70 people. We crowded in subways and buses and took up half a block of sidewalk as we walked the streets.

The first two days were filled with sightseeing adventures. We saw Mary Poppins on Broadway our first night, and then, on Friday morning, we headed to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We also were able to see Ground Zero and the Empire State Building.

Saturday and Sunday were filled with outreach and powerful church, the heart of our mission. We spent Saturday morning passing out around 3,000 flyers in the projects before the free Men of Judah and friends concert that afternoon. We were privileged to see a fantastic turnout; we gave out 300 free hotdogs and watched as people came and listened...and worshipped...with us. One highlight was watching one woman receive the beautiful gift of the Holy Ghost right there on the street.

After the concert, we distributed more flyers for the evening service, where Bro. Williams, our youth pastor preached. We had powerful church, with many being moved on by Jesus and another being filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost. Sunday morning, we congregated again to hear Bishop Elder preach. Again, we were blessed by a marvelous move of God, with another being filled with the Holy Ghost.

Sunday afternoon, we headed home. Everyone was exhausted, but it was unanimous: it was an amazing trip.

Spanish revival

This past week, CGC had a Spanish revival with Bro. Jerry Marin. It was held in a similar manner to our weekly bilingual service (all services are translated, but Sunday night is our formal bilingual service). Bro. Marin switched between English and Spanish throughout the services, with our interpreter, Bro. Jason Salazar, gamely switching with him. The above clip is a bit of a taste of what we experienced during the revival, but it's nothing compared to what the actual services were like. There was a powerful move of God in each one.

New York, New York

This week, CGC, as well as a fellow church in Alabama, is headed to New York City on a much-anticipated missions trip. Armed with 70 something people, 3000 flyers, and a lot of enthusiasm, CGC is headed to the very center of New York with a revival mission. Men of Judah will be performing a free concert, and we will be participating in several services. Stay tuned for more updates and pictures!

Ladies Tea

On May 29, 2010, Sis. Vigil hosted our annual Ladies Tea in her home. As always, it was a time of wonderful food and fellowship.

After the ladies gathered in her lovely garden, various ladies were honored for their service. Sis. Barbara Williams was the speaker, and she chose to use this time to honor each lady individually for her contribution to the church.

At the end of the tea, each lady took home an African violet and fun memories. We look forward to next year!

Sunday School Graduation

Every year, we hold a Sunday School Graduation where we formally move all of the children into their new classes, based on their grades. We also use this time to acknowledge all of the people who work in the Sunday School Department.

This year, the Sunday School Department decided to give CGC a taste of what went on in Sunday School this past year, in addition to the regular festivities. Plus, many of the children were involved in various aspects of the service, working as greeters, ushers, and musicians. There was also the debut of the children's choir. Below are just a few pictures of the event:
